Hey You're Cool!
Lizzy Caplan
By Rob Brink
Mass Appeal #49
Lizzy Caplan commutes 45 minutes daily in pajamas for her favorite morning coffee in hometown LA. She's quick-witted and clever, refreshingly bullshit-free. To the point where her making fun of you actually feels good. And, despite obvious cute-slash-hotness, the 25-year old is more modest than she needs to be.
Caplan never really harbored any secret desires to become an actress until she defaulted to drama when playing the piano at the Hamilton Academy of Music in Los Angeles got boring—then she "just went for it."
You might remember her as Janis from Mean Girls. You know, the gothy, atypically attractive chick with an influx of eye shadow? But that was eons and a short-lived TV sitcom ago. These days, Lizzy spends her time eluding the Hollywood scene and working with powerhouses like J. J. Abrams, Harrison Ford and Sean Penn, while firmly rooted in the denial that she will soon be sought after and posing for cell phone photos with fans.
RB: I just spent 18 hours Googling you and the only dirt I found was some paparazzi picture of you on a cell phone snarkily entitled, "Lizzy Caplan loves her cell phone!"
LC: I don't want to hear it! I'm actually really uncomfortable even knowing that you looked all that shit up.

I told y'all how I missed this photo op at GvR on Saturday, but my boy Travis didn't... And he donated his gem of a photo for the follow-up. Nice one. For the record. I'm not hating on the girl. Seems kinda cute to me. But this was just all too absurd to ignore.

This actually went down at etnies GvR Snow yesterday while Ghostface Killah was playing. However, due to rain and other obstacles, the shitty journalist in me didn't get the photo of blondie mooning the crowd, or, as according to many witnesses, walking onto Ghostface's bus after the show, about to do the opposite of just about everything her father taught her in life.
Let's ponder the situation for a moment:

"Yeah yeah yeah, I'm Ghostface Killah! I'm performing at GvR! Check it."
"Hey, let's get all the ladies up on stage, alright!"

Leprechaun face...
It's been a while since the dynamic duo of Conhuir Lynn and Dominik Dietrich were in the States. But they are back on some filming missions for Zero/$lave. I was happy to see 'em, and Conhuir was having some Irish potato withdrawals, so I treated them to Souplantation the other day. Conhuir got a new hairstyle too... suave!

I'm big in Holland.
Once the session was over, a few days later actually. I got the raddest message from Fred (WorldWide Skateboarding) ever on MySpace. Turns out my Tampa Am blog team presence is having a tsunami-like effect on the entire industry!:

I'm pretty sure this was Christmas morning and I was stoked. My sister was obviously bored this week and took a minute to unearth and scan this fashion disaster. Vision Street Wear "Mondo" print pants, Vision "Stipple" skate shoes and three Swatch watches.

Nieratko, O'Connor and me
Tim O'Connor adidas Roast Script
By Rob Brink
The disclaimer:
If you don't know how a roast works or don't have a sense of humor... don't bother reading any further. I'm sorry in advance if anyone gets butthurt. But hell, it's a roast. What did you expect? Besides, this is skateboarding. Have fun with it while it lasts.
Truthfully though, I admire and respect everyone who I bagged on, and was stoked (and very relieved) at the end of the night when they all shook my hand and laughed about it.
This may not be verbatim, because I added some jokes on the fly while I was waiting to roast, and then some as I was up there speaking... I even took out a whole page while I was up there 'cuz it was just too gnarly and I felt I was going too long. Didn't put it here either. But hopefully I can eventually get access to the unedited version and put the video up here or maybe 411 will put it up on their site.
Hope you like,
Brink

Between this and the Wieger announcement yesterday, enjoi's been killing it lately. Looks like Active opted for an "alternative" flyer though.
