Habitat at Liberty

October 29, 2007

Danny Garcia. Back tail.

Skipping the Damn Am finals was a tough decision for me... but really... you can see that coverage on all the other sites. Plus, a Habitat pre-video release signing and private Liberty Board Shop TF sesh with Danny Garcia, Raymond Molinar, Tim O'Connor, Austyn Gillette, James Craig and Daewon Song = no-brainer. As you can see, not the best photos. Everything I try lately is a photographic learning experience where I semi-suck. Kind of exciting. Ivo took better photos than me. Video to come.

Raymond Molinar. 5-0 to fakie.

Damn Am 2007

October 28, 2007

Collin Provost. Nollie front feebs.

I was at Damn Am on Saturday for some of the qualifiers. Skipped out on the finals today for something you'll see in a bit. But ya, here's some goodness:

Tyler Bledsoe. Nollie biggie.

This is Andrew Pott singing Afroman's "Because I Got High." And, no, he isn't kidding. He's feelin' it.

Mind Field

October 24, 2007

Contrary to what we've seen in the last year or so, there's still a few skateboarding companies trying to make good skateboarding videos. Alien Workshop is one of them.

Armageddon!

October 24, 2007

Sooooo. Yeah, I heard something about a fire the other day. It's kinda funny how no matter how hard you try to avoid the news, it doesn't really matter because 500 people are just gonna tell you about it anyway, whether you want them to or not. But yeah, I came to find out all of So Cal is up in flames and this particular blaze is about 200 yards or so from my building How exciting! What a great excuse for a bunch of people with nothing to do at the office to be entertained! Don't worry about the war in Iraq this week folks, we have fires!

With all the technology we have in this world, all the money spent on fighter jets and nuclear bombs and satellites and nanobots and designer sunglasses and whatever other bullshit... I mean, we're about to colonize Mars and shit. You'd think we, the people, could figure out how to put out a few fires, right? Nah, instead, people have to lose their homes and evacuate and have their lives ruined... yet again.

I'd like to think that since I live three blocks from the ocean that I'm safe from fire. But who knows, maybe this is more Inconvenient Truth-type shit and tomorrow I'll be washed away by the "Great Laguna Beach Tsunami of 2007." Or an earthquake or comet resulting from our big-ass "ecological footprint" will take us out or something. Yeah, I said "ecological footprint." I'm so hip to all the new buzzwords and catch phrases.

My friend Dom came up with a good one via text yesterday: he said how all this is like "the rich, white people's version of Hurricane Katrina." That was funny.

"Fuck working or fleeing to safety, let's ogle a catastrophe! Does anyone want popcorn?"

Whaaaaaaat!?

October 22, 2007

For those of us who get off on this old stuff... I hadn't heard about a World Industries box set at all (except Socrates mentioning something brief two years ago to me, that I assumed might never come to fruition because of how difficult he described the process to be) and then stumbled across this last night. It's gonna be sick! I guess I should step up the Big Brother Tribute in celebration of this one.

We already have the Plan B Anthology, the Blind box set and the Rodney Vs. Daewons....

My first surf contest...

October 21, 2007

So I went to my first surf contest this weekend (etnies GvR of Surf) and this is the best photo I got. I mean, I could show you photos of MxPx, but really, they pale in comparison.

More Downtown Showdown!

October 18, 2007

And these are the last of anything good I have from Downtown Showdown. Other than the video footage I'll most likely never edit...

I left this Garrett Hill banger out of my first DTSD post. Like a dumbass. If you asked me, I'd rate this a very premium pop shuv.

Rick McCrank air guitar/boarding to John Rattray. Cute, huh?

More GvR!

October 18, 2007

These are the last of what I consider to be my "decent" photos from GvR...

Collin Provost. Backside 360.

Moments after snapping this photo of Karen O. from the Yeah Yeah Yeah sound checking, some dude ran out to me and told me not to take photos of Karen O. sound checking. Probably 'cuz she had post-sex hair. Lame.

Ryan Sheckler, I mean, "etnies" GvR signing...

October 18, 2007

Basically, Ryan Sheckler is huge now. No shit. Not like you didn't know. This isn't about Sheckler love or hate. It just is what it is. etnies had an autograph signing at Focus skateshop during GvR and the line was around the building with screaming little girls. It was amazing. Kyle Leeper and Ronnie Creager tried to pretend some kids actually wanted their autograph. It was a funny scene. Something worth witnessing, that's for sure.
