As a Deftones fan, I'm pretty stoked that etnies is co-sponsoring their current US tour and I'm kinda working with them/for them on etnies.com, as they are sending in blog updates from the road.
I've met the band a few times over the years and they are humble and nice guys. Turns out they are pretty funny too. The first update is from Chi, the bassist, so have a gander over to the Deftones page on the etnies Culture site check it out.

I don't have many heroes... but Og De Souza is one of them. Watching/hearing Nilton's reaction to Og De grinding the rail at the end of this clip gives me chills every time. Pure excitement, amazement, pride and stokeage. Go out, reinvent skateboarding and make skateboarding yours.

So last week I met up with Chris Gregson, David Loy and John Demar at the skatepark. In case you're 31, like me, and are ever feeling old and slow and need some motivation with your skating... try going out with a bunch of ultra-hyper, sponsored, ripping 16 & 17-year-old ams and break out your videocamera. They'll have you trying new tricks with them, learning new tricks, filming lines of your own and chasing them to film their lines.
You'll get yelled at...

Birdhouse and etnies flow dude, Chris Gregson, called and texted me 75 times in the last 24 hours about getting this promo video of him and his boys up. You may have heard of David Loy, Collin Provost or Justin Figueroa. They are in here too.

the etnies BMX video, Grounded, premiered last Friday at etnies in Lake Forest. Mr. Mike Manzoori and a few other skateboarders are responsible for a lot of this video and it's really fuckin' good. Made me want to skate actually. People were hyped. People got drunk. There were road cone, ice cube and fist fights. People got in their cars wasted and did donuts in the parking lot. Many humans were mere inches from severe injury, impailment and vehicular manslaughter charges. I was sober and seriously fretting for my life. I'm getting soft. Great times regardless!
