Celebrities with Dyslexia
By Rob Brink
February 2003

Here's another one that was slated to go in Stance magazine but never saw the light of day because the mag folded. My idea was to make it a column for each issue where I would find a different "disorder" or "condition" and find celebrities to fit the list. Future lists would have included Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and things of that nature. If this article offends you, as it is seeming to do to many, chill out, it's a joke. And the point wasn't to make fun of Dyslexia or people who have it, it's merely pointing out that celebrities have imperfections too.

How To Be An Idiot At A Concert Uncensored!

July 3, 2006

In the wake of my 1 Year Anniversary post, a lot of people seemed to enjoy my 11 Ways to be an Idiot at a Concert piece from way back in June '03. so I figured I would put my original version, before the editors got to it, up. You'll see that in some cases, editors cut stuff out for good reasons. Looking back, not all of these are funny or good, while other stuff might have been funny, but was most likely cut for space. Either way, here ya go.

Swamp Ass!

June 30, 2006

Sitting and waiting for car drama to be resolved is never fun. But when a fat guy walks in and leans over the counter with his harsh brackish stanky ass and sweat shorts (yes, sweat shorts) soaked with who-knows-what, (probably butt juice and perspiration) it makes things a little more bearable.

11 Ways

This is probably corny and soft, but I kinda feel like I need to mention it for some reason.

The official date of my first portfolio post, 11 Ways to Be an Idiot at a Concert, was June 27, 2005. I bought my domain name (RobBrink.com) in late 2000 and the site actually went live in like, 2002 (I think) with nothing but this logo up there lurking for a few years:

Boneless to Lipslide Down a Rail?

June 26, 2006

You heard me right. Think about it. Hucking yourself up and over the rail, then getting your front foot back on the front of the board to evenly distribute your weight over the rail while letting go with your hand and not letting your back foot pull you down to your nutsack on the rail as you attempt to slide down it.

Leave it to the Gonz. What's more? Dan fucking Drehobl. Get Krooked Kronicles! Sooner rather than later.

Snakeboarder!

I haven't seen one in quite some time, but a snakeboarder showed up at the skatepark tonight and I kinda got to thinking about what it was like to be one of only a few skateboarders in my entire high school back in the day. That weird feeling of alienation and truly being different, ya know? Sometimes even lonely or scared.

Attack of the Freestylers!

Some Go Skateboarding Day video. The Lake Forest scene is just off the hook. Please excuse the harsh red glare across half the video frame. I got drunk in Paris and dropped my camera a few times. A new one is en route to my place.

Go Skateboarding Day: The Morning After

June 22, 2006

1 year = 365 days. Go Skateboarding Day = 1 Day.
Might as well repair the bowl, rendering it unskateable, on Go Skateboarding Day, right? Because the other 364 days of the year just don't seem like logical times to close the bowl.

Today...

June 21, 2006

Today, I'm going skateboarding and hangin with etnies peeps and eating free food at my local skatepark! Then, thanks to Jim Thiebaud I'm going to watch the new Krooked, Real and Anti Hero DVDs that arrived at my place yesterday. Then, tonight, I'm gonna skate some more and probably come home and watch those DVDs again. Sounds fun to me...stop reading, go skateboarding.

No Skateboarding Day! Go BMXing Instead!

June 20, 2006

Added 6/21/06 at 8:41 am:

Based on some comments I have been getting thinking etnies is somehow at fault for this, or those of you who just can't read properly, and just to clear up any confusion...because it is Go Skateboarding Day, etnies tried to get the BMX session cancelled tonight, but was unsuccessful because of the city's/skatepark's refusal to do so. Ultimately, the City of Lake Forest has the final say in what goes on at the skatepark.

There will be a Go Skateboarding Day event/BBQ/giveaways all day today at the skatepark, but unfortunately, there will be no skateboarding tonight from 7-9pm due to the BMX session. And that sucks. But be aware that etnies is doin' the right thing.

-Brink

Now back to the original post from 6/20/06:

Despite requests by etnies employees and those organizing Go Skateboarding Day festivities at the park, the Skatepark of Lake Forest (i.e.: city of Lake Forest) isn't allowing skateboarding on the night of June 21 because it refuses to cancel one of three weekly BMX sessions (Wed 7pm-9pm).

Wait, isn't it called a "skatepark"? Wait, who donates to keep the park free every year? etnies and skateboarders and supporters of skateboarding, right? Um yea.
