Go Clyde Go!
I said it before and I'll say it again...Clyde is the shit.
TransWorld Business is an old client of mine. I wrote for them for a few years. I like the mag. I have some friends there, but I have to give this one to Clyde for a few simple and logical reasons. And no, not just 'cuz we write for the same mag:
1. As he stated in his blog, Clyde is no longer pro for anyone. Good point. Therefore, relating him to any sort of "exposure" nonsense with other pro and am skaters is kind of irrelevant and out of context these days.
2. Isn't TransWorld Business supposed to be an objective, informative, respectful, "esteemed" trade publication for our industry? Surprising to me they would use their pages as a platform to shit talk on an ex-pro, even if he busted their balls a little. And you can bet your ass if Clyde was still pro, and his current sponsors advertised in TransWorld or TransWorld Business, that they never would've uttered a single word about him, much less wrote this piece, no matter what he wrote in his Skateboard Mag column.
For example:
Does anyone remember when the Zero team took a shit on TransWorld's doorstep and lit it on fire for Thrasher's King of the Road challenge last year? Pretty damn funny, yet pretty damn disrespctful, no? You don't see TransWorld bad mouthing Jamie Thomas do you?
Lots of Zero, Fallen and Mystery ads still in the TW mags, too. As a matter of fact, Jamie and Black Box have a big fat cover story in the October issue of TW Biz. That's just the way it goes with skate mags, or most mags in general folks. I don't blame or side with Jamie/Zero or TWS there...good for both of 'em...just stating the obvious.
3. I find it pretty amusing that the editor trying to slam Clyde, on behalf of a long-running, "esteemed" trade publication, took all that time to figure out Clyde's would-be slot on the Exposure-O-Meter in relation to Og De Souza and all the other skateboarders, (all the way down to 313th place when the Meter usually only goes to #50) but didn't take .5 seconds to fact check/spell check the correct spelling of Og De's name. But at least the typo matches a certain brand of tequila, right?
