Eric Fletcher
By Rob Brink
etnies.com May 2006

In this amateur-centric era of skateboarding, Eric Fletcher is one of the up-and coming elite and he's got a list of heavy hitter sponsors to prove it. Fletch has amazing board control. Whether its technical skating, transition or gnarly big stuff, he handles it mellow—with style and ease.

"Fuck The Industry. Do It Yourself!"

May 31, 2006

I believe that was printed on a Bouncing Souls CD back in the day. I kinda like it. What's that "urban slang" saying they use? "Much respect?" Yeah, that's it. Go for it Craig. I got your back, homey.

May 30, 2006

Have you checked out the hot new Photo Gallery section? Namely, Leo Romero's shoe release party photos? In case what I have here isn't enough, Shad Rock's got some photos up too. He partied at night while I opted for the far uncooler day shift...

Best Wax Ever!

May 30, 2006

Skating at the park the other night, I saw this candle sitting on the ledge. Not sure what skater lugged it there or how much it may have cost, but if enjoi made skate wax, it might just look like this.

Leo Romero's Shoe Release Party!

May 29, 2006

Last Saturday, Emerica celebrated the release of Leo Romero's first pro model shoe, "The Leo," by throwing a little Mexi-themed party at the Emerica mansion in LA. I stopped to lurk the scene and in the short time I attended, I saw quite a few skate celebs, including Braydon Szafranski, Kevin "Spanky" Long, Jeremy Wray and Heath Kirchart. Here's a few random photos. Lots more in the All New RobBrink.com Photo Gallery!

The Skateboard Mag July 2006

Sadly, skateboard contest articles have become somewhat mundane—even obsolete or non-existent, over the years. Many mags, if they cover contests at all, only devote one page to a contest or event. Sad, but sometimes mere editorial and photos on glossy paper cannot properly do a weekend like Tampa Pro justice. So, in an attempt to make your contest article reading experience slightly more engaging, I, in conjunction with The Skateboard Mag, have decided to try something off the beaten path. My coverage of this event can be broken down into four categories, and, in my defense, I cannot be responsible for anything I missed due to sleeping in as the result of late nights at clubs consuming larger-than-usual amounts of Guinness and Irish Carbombs.

Footwear brand's 20-year celebration leaves an impression.
By Rob Brink
TransWorld Business June 2006

Skateboarding moves at a hummingbird's pace…trends come and go, people and companies age in dog years, and twenty years of anything in skateboarding is a hell of a long time. “Longevity confirms ability” is what some say. In this case, twenty years of etnies shoes means two decades of impeccable skateboarding footwear—not to mention team riders, a classic video and respect in the skateboarding and action sports industry, culture and community, because skateboarding will chew you up and spit you out if you aren't legit—and that's a fact.

I'm Deaf...

May 24, 2006

When Ministry plays, I'm there. This was the absolute loudest show I have been to in a decade or so, and by far the loudest Ministry show I have seen in my 15 years of seeing them. Al seems pretty fired up lately. The new stuff sounds like the Earth is about to explode. Dude is either back on the H Train or just über pissed at George W. Bush...or both. Also, there's something a bit silly about Ministry playing inside Disneyland in Anaheim. What's all this have to do with skateboarding? Well, nothing, but Ministry has had songs in skateboarding videos over the years. But really, I just felt like writing about it. I don't give a shit if you don't like it, but I bet you'll dig this chick's buttcrack. This is what happens if you barge in front of me at a show and block my view. Your ass ends up on my website:
