Sheldon Meleshinski is one of my favorite ams right now. His part in North 2 was rad and the kid is just sick. He's got a dope sequence in this article I just finished up for The Skateboard Mag. You'll see it soon.
Anyway, Sheldon got 4th place in the Tampa Am Best Trick, but in my opinion he got fuckin' robbed. Read Sheldon's interview in the February issue of Thrasher. In reference to only having one eye, he says: "I can skate switch, but it's a little harder. I have to tweak my neck a bit. On backside tricks I basically can't see anything...I just go Beetlejuice when I've got to try the switch flip."
Now the kickflip backlip at the end of this footage isn't switch, but kickflip backlip across the whole pyramid and down the rail? How many people could even get this trick done at all, nevermind during the madness that ensues during Best Trick. Not challenging enough? Then try doing it with one eye. I've tried skating around on flat with one eye closed, just to see what it might be like for Sheldon, and everything I knew was pretty much obliterated.
Sheldon also came super close to front feebling the same rail during Best Trick, then ended up smashing is foot somehow. The next time I saw him, his toes were purple and on ice.

yo, sheldon lost his eye to cancer man...when he was born the doctors realized he had cancer in his left eye, and there was a high probability that it was going to spread to his brain (and kill him) so they removed his eye..

Man i went to elementry with him.. he was doin hardflips in grade 7 with ONE EYE.. he lost it to cancer when he was a baby!! i know.. he told me!! his brothers are pretty sick skaters too..
